Abstract
Objective To study the effect of health education on hyperlipidemia in community Methods A quasi-experimental study was conducted among 428 residents with hyperlipidemia or the blood lipid on the high side, were divided into 2 groups: intervention group (n=240) and control group (n=188) according to the location of the specific community Comprehensive health education on the healthy life styles and balanced diet, in the forms of lecture, distribution of health education materials, filling in Individual Health Manual, etc was carried out to the intervention group for 6 months Before and after the study a questionnaire survey was conducted Results The average knowledge scores were 28 53±5 25 after the intervention, significantly higher than that before the intervention (32 37±4 73, P0 05), and were 30 59±4 92 after the study, significantly higher than that before the study (28 31±4 83, P0 05) in the control group The average attitude scores were 4 31±1 13 and 4 70±1 26 before and after the intervention in the intervention group, and were 4 21±1 29 and 4 29±1 20 before and after the study respectively in the control group The average practice score was 7 82±1 87 after the intervention, significantly higher than that before the intervention (6 65±1 93, P0 05) in the intervention group, and were 6 77±1 86 after the study, not significantly different from that before the study (6 89±1 95, P0 05) in the control group, significantly lower than that in the intervention group Conclusion Health education on hyperlipidemia in the form of community intervention is effective and welcomed by the community residents
