Abstract
Applied cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as catalyst,4-methyl-phenoxyacetic acid was synthesized with chloroacetate and 4-methyl phenol.Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide had higher catalytic activity and could be accelerate the synthesis of 4-methyl-phenoxyacetic acid.Molar ratio of 4-methyl phenol to chloroacetic acid, catalyst amount, reaction time and reaction temperature on yield and performance of the repeated use of catalyst was studied. The best reaction conditions were as followed: under 80℃,molar ratio of 4-methyl phenol to chloroacetate 1:2,catalyst weight of 0.2 g,reaction time was 2.5h.This yield of 4-methyl-phenoxyacetic acid was 51.93%.
