Abstract

Vibration is one of the most important problems in laser cutting machine, which causes the manufacturing errors, and influences the machining accuracy of the workpiece. Modal analysis can determine the structure or the vibration characteristics of machine parts. The FEA software ANSYS has been applied in modal analysis of laser cutting machine. The undamped free vibration of the whole machine has been studied. The inherent frequency and vibration mode of the whole mechanical system have been obtained. By analysis of modal characteristics of each phase, it is pointed out that the follow-up modal analysis step length must be less than0.0072 s, which can guarantee the accuracy of the modal calculation. Finally, by comparing the test results with theoretical results, the rationality of the modeling has been verified, which provides theoretical reference and condition for dynamic analysis and optimized design.
