Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of sequential treatment of levofloxacin on community acquired pneumonia. Methods 96 patients with community acquired pneumonia were divided into levofloxacin group(49 patients)and control group(47 patients treated with Cefuroxime sodium plus azithromycin),the drugs were given sequentially by intravenous infusion for 3 days, then changed to oral administration for 7 to 14 days.Their clinical symptoms, signs, chest X-ray examination and laboratory findings were observed and compared in these 2 groups. Results There was no significant difference in efficacy rate between these two groups;there were less adverse reactions in levofloxacin group. Conclusion Sequential therapy of levofloxacin for community acquired pneumonia was reliable.Levofloxacin may be offered as an alternative to clinicians for treatment of community acquired pneumonia.
