Abstract
The piston is one of the main parts of diesel,so it is an important way of improving the reliability and life of diesel to find the right and reliable calculation methods of piston temperature field. This paper discusses the theoretical base of piston thermal analysis, and builds the threedimensional finite element models of diesel. Then, the three-dimensional temperature field distributing characters of piston have been gotten by calculating its heat transfer coefficient and temperature field adopting empirical formulas. The results show that the method is easy,so it can be used to calculate the piston temperature field.
