Abstract
The total polyphenol(TP)content of barley extracts was analyzed by Folin-Ciocalteu colorimetry. The optimum conditions were investigated using gallic acid as standard. The results showed that when the concentration of Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and Na2CO3 were 0.2mol/L and 15%,reaction 60min in room temperature, there was a good linearity between the absorbance and gallic acid concentration from 1~9μg/mL in 760nm.The method was simple, accurate and suggested as an appropriate method to measure the TP content in barley extracts.
