Abstract
Objective To investigate the plasma VEGF levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods Plasma VEGF,HbA_1c,UmALB levels were measured with ELISA in 60 cases of diabetic nephrosis,65 cases of diabetes without nephrosis and 40 controls.Results The plasma levels of VEGF,HbA_1c,UmALB in diabetic patients with as well as without hephrosis were both significantly higher than those in controls(P0.01).In diabetic patients with hephrosis,plasma levels of VEGF,HbA_1c,UmALB were significantly higher than those in patients without hephrosis(P0.05).Conclusion The plasma VEGF level in patients with type 2 diabetes is significantly higher than normal which contributes to development of nephrosis in patients with type 2 diabetes.
