Abstract

Objective To study the effects of different ways of olfactory ensheathing cells( OECs) transplantation for spinal cord injury. Methods Modified Allen methods were used to establish rat models with T10 spinal cord injury, which were randomly divided into four groups and received prompt OECs transplantation: group A( receiving local transplantation),group B( receiving subarachnoid transplantation),group C( receiving transplantation through tail veins),group D( control group). Combined behavioral scores( CBS) and histological changes were used to evaluate the functional recovery of spinal cord injury at the different phases after operation. Results Compared with group D,the function and histological changes were significantly improved in group A,group B and group C,whereas there was no significant difference between group A,group B and group C. Conclusions Different ways of OECs transplantation are effective for improving the function of acute injured spinal cord in rats, but no significant difference is found between the three groups.
