Abstract
[Objective] To inquire the diagnosis value of neuron-specific enolase in cerebrospinal fluid and serum in the early stage sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. [Methods] We analysised cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum samples of 36 patients by ELISA. 14 of them are CJD, 10 of them are other dementia diseases(OD), the others are non dementia diseases(ND). [Results] Compared CJD with OD and ND, it is significantly higher than two control groups. Sensitivity for diagnosis of CJD is 78.6%, 73.3% in CSF and serum respectively, specificity is 77.3%, 72.7% respectively. [Conclutions] increased NSE can support the diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. But the sensitivity and specificity of NSE in the strum is lower than its in the cerebrospinal fluid.
