Abstract

Objective To determine the value of urodynamic studies before prostatectomy on patients with BPH.Methods The urodynamic data of 166 patients with BPH who had been prepared to undergo prostatectomy were studied. Results In 166 patients,125 patients had bladder outlet obstruction (BOO),25 patients had suspicious BOO and 16 patients had no BOO.There was no statistic difference in Qmax,PVPR and DSD among the three groups. The group BOO is higher in the incidence of DI and low compliance, and lower in the incidence of DUA than the other groups. Conclusion Urodynamic studies can provide clear information about the detrusor function and the bladder outlet. It is necessary for those patients with BPH before prostatectomy to do urodynamic studies.
