Abstract
The effects of quenching temperature on mechanical properties of M2 high-speed steel were studied. The results show that hardness, wear resistance and red hardness increase by increasing quenching temperature to a certain temperature. Above the temperature, hardness and red hardness decrease. Toughness decreases by increasing quenching temperature, especially above 1220 ℃. Therefore, quenching temperature of M2 high-speed steel should be adjusted in a certain extent according to the required red hardness and toughness of the tools.
