Clinical effect observation of total thyroidectomy for bilateral nodular goiter.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of total thyroidectomy for bilateral nodular goiter. Methods 94 cases of bilateral nodular goiter were randomly divided into total thyroidectomy operation treatment group (observation group) and subtotal thyroidectomy operation treatment group (control group),47 cases in each group,observed the operation time,hospitalization time,postoperative complications and recurrence condition of patients in two groups. Results The operation time of patients in observation groups was longer than that in control group,the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05),the difference of hospital stay and complications between two groups were no significant difference (P 0.05). During the follow-up period of 6 months,no recurrent cases in observation group,6 cases of recurrence in control group,the recurrence rate was 12. 8% ,there was statistical significance between two groups (P 0.05). Conclusion Taking total thyroidectomy for the treatment of bilateral nodular goiter has good clinical curative effect,complications and recurrence rate is low,it is a safe and effective treatment,worthy of further clinical application.
