Abstract

Objective To investigate clinical effect of subtotal thyroidectomy in the treatment of bilateral nodular thyroid goiter. Methods A total of 103 patients with bilateral nodular thyroid goiter treated by subtotal thyroidectomy in our hospital were selected as the observation group, and 45 patients undergoing total thyroidectomy were enrolled as the control group. The clinical efficacy, complications and recurrence of the two groups were compared. Results The operation time, analgesic use, length of hospital stay were(83.6±22.4)min,(76.2±10.6)mg,(9.3±1.4)d in the observation group,and(113.2±24.7)min,(162.5±15.1)mg,(12.1±1.2)d in the control group, respectively, showing statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The proportion of temporary recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, temporary parathyroid damage, thyroid dysfunction were 2.9%,4.9%,1.9% in the observation group, and 11.1%,15.6%,11.1% in the control group, respectively, with statistically significant differences between the two groups(P0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was 99.0%,which was not significantly different from that of the control group(100.0%),P0.05.Conclusion Subtotal thyroidectomy in the treatment of bilateral nodular thyroid goiter have good effect, with rapid postoperative recovery, shorter hospital stay, high cure rate, fewer complications, which is worthy to be used in clinical application.
