Analysis of Depression Incidence and Related Influence Factors of Elderly Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Objective To analyze incidence of depression and related influence factors of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),in order to improve the clinical diagnosis and treatment effect.Methods One hundred and sixty-two elderly patients with COPD at stable stage in Wuzhongpei Memorial Hospital during Nov.2010 and Oct.2012 were selected as the research objects,HAMD depression scale and social support rating scale for depression were adopted for disease condition survey,and the incidence of depression and related influencing factors were analyzed.Results Depression incidence in elderly patients with COPD was 34.57%,and the multiple regression analysis results showed that age,smoking status,COPD course and disease severity were important factors influencing the depression disease.Conclusion Elderly patients with COPD has a high incidence of depression,and age,smoking status,COPD course and disease severity are closely related with it.When relieving clinical symptoms,effective family and social emotional support should also be given.
