Comparative study on Aripiprazole and Risperidone in treatment of female schizophrenia

Objective To study the efficacy and side-efficacy of Aripiprazole in treatment of female schizophrenia and to compare with Risperidone.Methods Sixty female schizophrenia patients who were diagnosed based on the Standard of CCMD-3 were randomly divided into two groups,and administrated Aripiprazole and Risperidone respectively for 8 weeks The clinical efficacy was evaluated by PANSS and side-effects by TESS.Results The clinical excellent efficacy reached 76.7% in group treated by Aripiprazole and 73.3% by Risperidone.There was no obvious difference in two groups.The group treated by Aripiprazole had less side-effect as compared with Risperidone group.Among the side-effects,the rates of tremor,akathisia,rigidity,weight gain and amenorhea galactorrhea syndrome were lower in Aripiprazole group than Risperidone group.Conclusion Aripiprazole is equivalent to Risperidone in the treatment of female schizophrenia,while the rate of side-effects is low in the former.It has a good safety,tolerance and compliance.
