Reflection of late Qing Dynasty——The explanatory meaning of Zhang Zhi-dong's life

Late Qing society was in an extremely hard time.Learning from the west became the only available means for Qing Court to cope with the crisis.It was a gradual process reflected in Zhang Zhi-dong's life,including his attitude from ignorance to disregard,from one-sided affirmation to introducing western knowledge into China.He advocated system reform.What he did during his life accorded with the reality of late Qing society when the social crisis grew heavier and western learning spread,which was a typical reflection of his time and his society.
