Abstract
P80 steel is a precipitation-hardening die steel for plastics.Effect of normalizing and tempering on microstructure and hardness of P80 steel was investigated. The results show that microstructure of P80 steel normalized at 850°C and tempered at 500℃is composed of tempered lath martensite and bainite, with a lot of granular second phases precipitated in the lath martensite, producing precipitation hardening. After being heat treated by above mentioned procedure, the section hardness of the 80 mm-thick specimen is as high as 39 to 43 HRC,conforming with the specification requirements.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
