Clinical application of two different drainage implants in non-penetrating trabecular surgery

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of nonpenetrating trabeular surgery (NPTS) with different drainage implants.Methods:We randomly divided 31 cases(40 eyes) of primary open-angle glaucoma into two gruops each 20 eyes.Group A:NPTS and amniotic membrane transplantation.Group B:NPTS and reticulated hyaluronic acid.All surgical eyes used MMC and removable suture.Postoperatively,intraocular pressure (IOP),anterior chamber reactions and the bleb appearance were observed.Results: The mean follow-up was one year .The successful rate of Group A and Grcup B was 85%,90%,respectively.There are no difference between Group A and Group B( X 2=0.39, P 0.5).The complications such as flat chamber,inflammation reaction and choroidal detachment were not observed.The visual acuity remained unchanged.Conclusions:Amniotic membrane and hyaluronic acid gel can be used for NPTS drainage implants.The amniotic membrane is cheaper substitude for hyaluronic acid gel.
