Abstract
Influences of the flocculants’different groups on the settling rate of red mud were studied in this paper.three kinds of flocculants developed lately by foreign company were adopted,they contain hydroxamate group,car-boxylic group and amide group.The flocculating and settling test of the red mud produced by Bayer process in alu-mina industrial production were carried out under the best additions.The interaction between the flocculants with different groups and the red mud was studied.The result showed that the flocculant C containing three effective groups is the best effect through comparing the rate of settling,clarity of overflow and ratio of liquid and solid,the steric effect lead to big addition.At last,the development trend in future was put forward.
