Abstract
A new catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace cobalt was developed. The method is based on the synergistic effect of trace amount of cobalt(Ⅱ) and triethanolamine on the oxidation of xylene Blue AS by hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium. The linear range for the determination of cobalt is 0~2.9 μg/25 mL and the detection limit is 1.3×10 -7 g/L.The method has been applied to the determination of trace amount of cobalt in tea .human hair, spirit and orange juice with satisfactory results.
