Abstract

To study the effective method to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).Method:Combined electrovaporization and transurethral resection of the prostate was undertaken for 122 consecutive cases of BPH with a mean age of 72.3.There were 8 cases Ⅰ°BPH, 51 cases Ⅱ° BPH, 37 cases Ⅲ° BPH, 26 cases Ⅳ° BPH. Result:The duration of the operation was 30~150 min, mean time was 74.29 min. 1 cases ( 0.8%) required transfusion 400 ml during the operation and 2 cases( 1.6%) required 200~400 ml after the operation. 1( 0.82%) occurred transurethral resection syndrome. The mean postoperative catheterization maintained for 5 days. IPSS decreased from ( 29.8± 1.5) to ( 10.9± 1.0) at 2 months postoperatively (P 0.01).The result was satisfied and no complications were found with normal micturition in 1~10 months for follow-up. Conclusion:Combined electro vaporization and transurethral resection of the prostate for BPH can gain the advantages of the two operations and resect more tissue of prostate. The curative effect is obvious with low blood loss and complications.
