Abstract

Objective:To study the cognitive features, personality and parental rearing factors in patients with social phobia Method:Fifty patients with social phobia and 50 normal controls completed Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (FNE), Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SAD), EPQ and Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran (EMBU) Result:Patients with social phobia had higher scores of FNE and of SAD than normal controls (113±13/82±17, 20±5/9±4) The scores of neuroticism and psychoticism of EPQ were also higher in patient group than in control, while that of extraversion was lower in patient group They had lower scores in warmth and understanding in EMBU, higher scores in punishment, refuse and overprotection The score of FNE was positively correlated with the score of SAD, and subscore of neuroticism in EPQ Conclusion: Patients with social phobia fear of negative evaluation, the fear is associated with neuroticism but not parental rearing pattern
