Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical significance in diagnosis of suspected cases of measles and rubella through testing IgM antibody. Methods The specific antibodies against measles and rubella were detected from serum samples by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results A total of 484 serum samples from suspected measles and rubella cases were collected during 2009 to 2011,the positive rates of IgM antibody to measles and rubella were 31.82%(154 /484) and 17.15%(83 /484) respectively.According to the age distribution, positive rtes of measles and rubella in age range less than 1 yr group were 4.55% and 0%,53.90% and 4.82% in 1 ~ 4 yr,10.39% and 61.45% in 5 ~ 15 yr,and 31.17% and 33.73% in over 15 yr group respectively. Conclusion The basic immunization and revaccination in immunization program for measles and rubella should be strengthened, and the quality of immunization must be improved, and it should pay more attention to epidemiological and immunological monitering on severe cases of measles and rubella.
