The Negotiation Between China and Britain on Opium in the New-policy Period of the Late Qing Dynasty

In the newpolicy period of the late Qing Dynasty, the Qing Government actively carried on negotiation with British Government on opium. The British Government was forced to promise to reduce gradually the opium import to China within ten years until it was completely stopped which was a great victory in the history of diplomacy of the Qing Dynasty and greatly promoted the antiopium movement of that time in China.
