Yuan Shikai and His Recovery Work after the Boxers Rebellion

Since the 1980's,the so-called reversal-type research on Yuan Shikai has declined and the academic study of Yuan Shikai was rarely mentioned.Therefore,it is critical to reconstruct the historical facts.To take Yuan Shikai who was responsible for taking the Northeast and Tianjin regions after the Boxer Rebellion as an example,the academic sector did not pay sufficient attention to this issue,which was also short of systematic research.In fact,this is an important historical event which had a profound impact.On one hand,it was beneficial to recovering some of sovereign rights,safeguarding national sovereignty,stabilizing the regional situation and restoring local economic development;on the other hand,it also virtually raised the political prestige of Yuan Shikai,laying a political foundation for his career,and further influencing the political situation in the Late Qing and Early Republic.
