Abstract

Landscape Urbanism describes a disciplinary that landscape replaces architecture as the basic block of contemporary urbanism. It also illustrates the spirit of Green Infrastructure concept. It has been proved suitable for many new urban development issues such as ecological regeneration of Brownfield,landscape regeneration in shrinking cities and approaches on fast growing cities. This paper is focusing on the origin,development and conceptual meaning of landscape urbanism. Through case studies,the author aims to find out a few useful lessons that Chinese cities could learn from the western experiences.
