Abstract

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture on memory ability of AD rats, and investigate its protection. Methods:AD rat model was established by microinjection of amyloid-beta protein(Aβ1-40) into the Meynert nucleus of rats.We acupunctured baihui(DU 20)taixi(KI 3) zusanli(ST 36)to observe the effect of electrotherapy on AD rats, the memory ability was studied by Morris water maze, and ultrastructure of neurons was observed under transmission electron microscopy. Results:The memory ability was damaged in model group, and nerve cell degeneration, endoplasmic reticulum to expand, chondriosome to swell. After treatment of electroacupuncture, the memory ability was improved as compared with model group. Conclusion: Electroacupuncture treatment can improve the memory ability of AD rats, and protect the neurons.
