The immunomodulatory effects of Kangfuxin solution in the mice

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the immunomodulatory effects of Kangfuxin solution in mice.METHODS The effects of Kangfuxin solution on the weight of immune organs,carbongranular clearance ability of mononuclear macrophage,delayed type hypersensitivity(DTH) induced by DNCB and the production of hemolysin antibody in normal mice,immunocompromised mice(induced by cyclophosphamide) and aged mice were determined.The histological structure of spleen and the oxidative damage of brain of the aged mice were also observed.RESULTS Kangfuxin solution had no effect on the immune functions in normal mice,but it could obviously increase the weight indices of immune organs,strengthen the mononuclear macrophage englobement function,the DTH induced by DNCB and the production of hemolysin in immune suppressed mice.Kangfuxin solution could also increase the weight indices of immune organs and serum hemolysin level and improve histological features of senescence of spleen in the aged mice.In addition,it could significantly decrease the content of MDA and increase the activities of SOD and T-AOC of brain tissue in the aged mice.CONCLUSION Kangfuxin solution could promote nonspecific immunity,cell-mediated immunity and humoral immunity in immune suppressed mice,strengthen humoral immunity and improve histological features of senescence of spleen and oxidative damage of brain in the aged mice.It has no effect on the immune functions of normal mice.
