Abstract
Based on improved Dawson method,a code for predicting the wavemaking resistance of catamaran and trimaran is developed,which specially taking the disposal of transom stern into consideration.The wave making resistance of one SWATH and one trimaran is computed using this method,the numerical results coincide with the experimental results quite well,it shows that this method can properly predict the wave making resistance of catamaran and trimaran.Furthermore,its application to optimization of trimaran side hull configuration is exploited,comparison to experimental data indicates the method of this paper is suitable for hull configuration optimization.
