Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of simvastatin and losartan on left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) and heart rate turbulence(HRT) in hypertensive patients. Methods Eighty-four hypertensive patients with LVH were randomly divided into three groups.Control group: 22 cases, treated with aspirin,β-blockers,calcium antagonists, and other basic treatments;Losartan group: 30 cases, basic treatments plus losartan 100 mg,once a day;Simvastatin and losartan combined therapy group: 32 cases, basic treatment plus simvastatin 20-40 mg,once a day,and losartan 100 mg,once a day. Each group received a 12-month therapy.Cardiac ultrasonic indexes,HRT parameters, blood pressure and cholesterol were observed.ResultsAfter treatment, the levels of TO,LVMI lowered,TS increased in both the losartan and combined therapy groups, compared with before treatment. The differences were significant(t=6.539-20.395,P0.01),but no significant differences were noted for the control(t=0.493-1.916,P0.05).The levels of TO,LVMI,SBP,and DBP of both treatment groups were significantly lower after treatment than those of the control(F=12.72-32.97,q=4.316-11.212,P0.01),and TS was significantly higher(F=134.64,q=9.542-22.917,P0.01).A comparison between the combined and losartan groups showed lower levels of TO and LVMI for the former(F=22.24-32.97,q=2.922-3.292,P0.05),and higher level of TS for the latter(F=134.64,q=13.740,P0.01).There was a significant association between TO,TS and LVMI(r=0.438-0.626,P0.01).ConclusionThe combination of simvastatin and losartan can improve LVH and HRT parameters of hypertension,as well as the damage of autonomic nervous system.
