Abstract

Objective To evaluate left ventricular function(LVF) in patients with heart failure(HF) evaluated by using real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE) in combination with Tei index. Methods RT-3DE and pulsed doppler ultrasound were used to measure left ventricular end diastolic volume(LVEDV),left ventricular end systolic volume(LVESV),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),left ventricular mass(LVM),ejection time(ET) and Tei index in 104 patients with HF and 74 healthy volunteers(control group). Results LVEDV,LVESV,LVM,left ventricular mass index(LVMI) and Tei index were significantly higher but LVEF and ET were significantly lower in patients with HF in contrast with those in the control group(P 0.05).LVEF negatively correlated with LVM while Tei index positively correlated with LVM in patients with HF(P 0.05),and Tei index negatively correlated with LVEF(P 0.05).Conclusion RT-3DE combined with Tei index can accurately evaluate LVF in patients with HF better, judge the severity of HF effectively, and provide the evidences for HF typing.
