Abstract

Based on the introduction of the structure and genetic characteristics of microsatellite, the application of microsatellite marker in parentage relationship identification, gene map construction, marker assisted selection, and genetic diversity evaluation was elucidated in the review. It is suggested that as a useful molecular genetic marker, the defects such as limited number of known microsatellite loci, high cost of analysis, and genotyping errors of amplification products etc. should be investigated in the future study to make the good use of the microsatellite analysis.
