Abstract
Microsatellite is a new molecular genetic marker which has been developed in recent ten years. Because of its advantages such as great quantity, extensive dispersion around the genome, high polymorphism information content, Mendelian codominant inheritance, rapid and convenient detection, microsatellite marker is being widely applied in gene mapping, construction of genetic map, relationship identification, analysis of population structure and genetic relationship, genetic examination, marker assisted selection, heterosis prediction etc. This article reviewes microsatellite marker and its application in animal genetics and breeding.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
