Abstract

[Objective] To evaluate the effects ofthe dietary guidelines for Chinese residentsandguidelines on snacks for Chinese children and adolescentsnutrition education project carried out in Haidian district of Beijing.[Methods]Nutrition education activities were conducted in an elementary school,a middle school and a community.Subjects randomly selected from the target people were interviewed before and after the intervention using the knowledge-attitudes-practice questionnaires on nutrition and health.[Results]The interviewed subjects of elementary school students,middle school students and adult residents were 115,109 and 94,respectively.After the nutrition education,the awareness rate of thethe dietary guidelines for Chinese residentsof elementary school students,middle school students and adult residents were 100.0%,99.1% and 100.0%,respectively.And the rate of answering the nutrition and health knowledge correctly and the rate of holding active attitude on the nutrition and health problems were improved significantly.Behavior changes were seen in students with some bad food behaviors corrected and some good food habits were formulated such as the decrease of being fussy about food,preferring fried food and confection,and the increase of eating breakfast,drinking water actively,eating vegetables and fruits and milk products frequently.As to adults,the rate of choosing some good food behaviors were also increased such as the diversity of food selection,drinking water actively and ordering food according to the nutrition value.While some unhealthy food habits in adults were not amended such as skipping breakfast,preferring salty food and fried food and eating vegetables and fruits frequently.[Conclusion]The status of the nutrition and health knowledge,attitudes and practice of the subjects was improved significantly after the nutrition education project.
