Abstract
Currently, the study of errors in business correspondence writing mainly focuses on linguistic competence, though a few scholars have taken the business context into consideration.Error analysis of business correspondence writing from the cultural and pragmatic perspectives is rare, and systematic research of students' errors in the practice of international trade when wring business correspondence has so far remained undone. The present paper, based on analysis of 1120 samples of business correspondence written by English majors, reveals that their errors mainly fall into two categories-pragmatic errors and misconceptions in the practice of international trade. The objective of analyzing these errors is to arouse my peers' interest in the study of and reflection on the teaching of business correspondence.
