Feng Zikai's Conception of Music Function

Feng Zikai's conception of music function changed in 1937 when the Anti-Japanese War began.Before the war,he advocated purely aesthetic function of music,while the latter part,after 1937,he considered benevolenceas the most important function of music,emphasizing that music should be coupled with social reality.Basing on his conception in former period,the latter period of his conception integrates Confucianism,which not only embodies the essence of music,but also reflects the theme of the times and has practical significance.
