Abstract

Effects of salicylic acid seed-coating on seed germination and seedling growth in maize were studied under the low temperature stress by sand culture method.The results showed that the germination and seedling growth of salicylic acid seed-coating seed were significantly better than the contrast.Germination rate increased 8 percentage than comparison and the difference was significant.Under the low temperature stress,salicylic acid seed-coating could reduce membrane permeability and malondialdehyde(MDA) content of seedling,while chlorophyll content and soluble sugar content were enhanced,all these were beneficial to enhance the ability that seedling resisted cold injury in maize.
