Abstract

A 6 Tesla superconducting Wiggler has been manufactured in April 1997. This is the first superconducting Wiggler in China. By magnetic field and the cryogenic system measurements, the performance and parameters of the Wiggler finally satisfied the requirements of our design. The Wiggler has been installed in the storage ring of Hefei National Synchrotron Radiation Lab.(NSRL) in January 1998. The commissioning started in March 1998 and fi nished within 2 weeks. The peak field of the Wiggler gets to 6 Tesla smoothly without beam loss. The hard X ray with 1-3 angstrom wavelengths through the front of XAFS beam line got to observation screen. The main performance of the superconducting Wiggler and the commissioning results are given in this paper.
