Abstract
Objective To investigate the features of personality tendency of army recruits. Methods A sampling survey was conducted in 1 962 male recruits, using the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+( PDQ-4+),and its result was compared with that of the survey conducted in the college students. Results 1 All the scores of recruits were significantly lower than those of college students except the scores in the histrionic and antisocial dimensions( P 0. 05). The positive detection rate of personality tendency subtype in the recruits ranged from 7. 25% to 36. 07%. 2 The scores in the paranoid, schizoid, narcissistic, borderline, antisocial and dependent dimensions, and the total score of younger recruits were higher than those of elder recruits( P 0. 05). The recruits with harmonious parental relationship had significantly lower scores in all dimensions except the obsessive-compulsive personality tendency dimension compared with the recruits whose parental relationship was unharmonious( P 0. 05). The significant differences were observed in the scores in the paranoid, schizoid, histrionic, narcissistic, borderline, antisocial and passive aggressive dimensions between the recruits came from the country and urban( P 0. 05),and the urban recruits had higher scores of personality disorder( P 0. 05). The recruits who were only-child had higher scores in all dimensions expect the schizoid, narcissistic and obsessive-compulsive dimensions, and higher total score compared with those who were not only-child( P 0. 05).Conclusion The recruits have lower risk in personality disorder compared with college students. The recruits who are younger, with unharmonious parental relationship, from the urban and without siblings might have higher risk in personality disorder.
