Abstract

Objective To observe the effect and safety of azithromycin in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infection in children. Method 158 cases with mild lower respiratory tract infection were divided into three group. Group A was given venous azithromycin [10mg/(kg.d)], 3 days later with orraly azithromycin [10mg/(kg.d)]; group B was given venous azithromycin [10mg/(kg.d)]; group C with venous ceftriaxonesodium [50-80mg/(kg.d)]. Results The curative effect of Group A and group B did not show remarkable difference (P0.05), group A, B both had remarkable difference with group C (P0.05). The rate of side effect among the three groups had no remarkable differences. Conclusion Azithromycin has the advantages of safe, effective, convenient and economical in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infection.
