What Kind of "Cultural Consciousness" Do We Need?

As a significant view of the late Mr. Fei Xiaotong, consciousness was firstly proposed in Beijing University in 1997 and was later continually expounded and completed. This is the consciousness of a scholar. In the seventeenth national congress of the communist party of China, Hu Jintao's speech indicated the generation of consciousness of central top leaders. In 2000, in his article cultural consciousness, confidence, self-strengthening, comrade Liu Yunshan carefully explained the connotation of consciousness. In my opinion, consciousness mainly includes the following problems: how to deal with traditional culture and exotic culture? How to innovate in culture? How to promote civilians' cultivation? If China could make contributions to human in technology, culture, thinking, then 21st century belongs to China. Whether 21st century belongs to China depends upon what kind of consciousness we have. Cultural confidence and self-strengthening should be built upon consciousness, and revival should be built upon confidence. Only if everybody in China has a sense of consciousness could we revive Chinese culture.
