Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate factors for postoperative jugular vein catheter infections in patients with liver cancer so as to reduce the incidence of jugular vein catheter infections.METHODS A retrospective analysis of clinical data of 214 patients with indwelling jugular vein catheter after surgery for liver cancer in our hospital during Jun.2011 to Jun.2013 was conducted. The clinical data of 39 patients who had jugular vein catheter infections were analyzed to explore factors related to the infections.Data were statistically analyzed by SAS 14.0software.RESULTS Totally 39 out of 214 patients had jugular vein catheter infections(18.22%).Jugular vein catheter infection was related to aseptic operation during catheterization, chemotherapy cycle, wound dressing time and replacement time of heparin cap,the difference was significant(P0.05).Totally 44 pathogens were cultured, including Acinetobacter baumannii,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Staphylococcus aureus, accounting for27.27%,22.73%,20.45%,respectively.CONCLUSIONS Postoperative jugular vein catheter infection is related to many factors, infectious pathogens mainly include A.baumannii,P.aeruginosa,and S.aureus, and strict aseptic operation and careful nursing after surgery have great importance to reduce jugular vein catheter infections.
