Abstract
Aim To analyze the results of plague surveillance during the years of 2003~2009 in Kunming City as well as predicting the potential risk factors resulting in prevalence of animal plague in Kunming City. Methods The data concerning the monitoring of animal plague in 2003 to 2009 were analyzed. Results During 2003 to 2009,the density of indoor rodents was 1.54% and Rattus flavipectus accounted for 0.22%.The density of outside rodents was 1.51% and Rattus flavipectus accounted for 0.24%.Rattus norvegicus was the dominant species and occupied 72.71% out of the all captured rodents, followed by Rattus flavipectus(14.82%).Leptopsylla segnis was the main vector accounted for 51.67%,followed by Xenopsylla cheopis(34.49%).Flea index of Rattus flavipectus was 0.49.No positive results were obtained. Conclusion During the 7 years surveillance no sign of prevalence of animal plague in Kunming was observed, but local monitoring work be continuously carried out.
