Abstract

Objective: to observe the effect of ChaiHuXiangRuYin on acute upper respiratory infection in summer. Methods: random case control study. AURI 198 cases were divided into treatment group with ChaiHuXiangRuYin and control group with XiaoErShuXiaoShangFengChongJi and Ribavirin 10mg/kg. Treatment group 113 cases, male 71,female 42,age 11 months to 7 years, average 3.6±5.2 years, mild 26, moderate 12, severe 75. Control group 85,male 51,female 34,age 12 months to 7 years, average 3.8±5.9 years;mild13, moderate 18, severe54. Results: Temperature variation: after treatment 6 hours, there were not any significant difference in two groups, but in severe patients there were a significant difference in 12?48?72 hours(P0.01). The effect in treatment group was better than in control. Symptom:after treatment, there were not any significant difference in mild and moderate groups, but in severe patients there were a significant difference in 72 hours(P0.01),which shows that ChaiHuXiangRuYin may improve the symptom better than control. Effect: there were not any significant difference in mild and moderate groups. In severe patients recovery rate is higher than control, and inefficacy rate is lower with a significant difference(P0.01). Conclusion: ChaiHuXiangRuYin has a better relief of fever and symptom than western medicine.
