Abstract
This paper will criticize the different views on Wen(configurations /culture/ literature),Tao,Virtue,Nature so as to explore the essence of Tracing The Tao.In his view,the Wen in Tracing The Tao refers to the most generalized image or symbol.The extension of Wen in Tracing The Tao is larger than general literary theory.However,LIU Xie pointed that Wen was derivation of The Tao that it was attribute of all because LIU Xie thought Wen in combination with Tao.In fact,LIU Xie thought metaphysically being of literary art,which reflected profound reflective consciousness.In history of Chinese literary theory,Liu's discussion standing on Wen,Tao,Virtue is the first time to try constructing literary theoretical system.The attempt reflected Chinese literature theory stepping into conscious time.
