Abstract

After the outbreak of the Wuchang uprising(武昌起义),the Qing Government quickly appointed Yuan Shikai(袁世凯) so as to deal with the situation.Yuan Shikai actually contributed a lot to the North-South peace talks.At that time,Democratic republic had already become the unremitting pursuit of Chinese,the constitutional monarchy political ideal was outdated.Under the circumstance,Yuan Shikai tried to end the war and realize the negotiation.Researchers used to criticize Yuan Shikai for his behavior in 1911 since they were dim about the truth of Yuan Shikai's removal three years ago.The author tries to analyze the historical background and the true intention of Yuan Shikai so as to make clear his action in 1911.
