Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of HIF-1α and its relation to vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in colorectal carcinoma. Methods The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in 43 colonrectal carcinoma was detected by using immunoreation. Results The majority of colon carcinomas expressed HIF-1α and VEGF in the cytoplasm. There is positive correlation between HIF-1α expressed in the cytoplasm and tumor differentiation, but negative correlation between HIF-1α and tumor infiltration depth. There is positive correlation between VEGF expressed in the cytoplasm and tumor differentiation, but negative correlation between VEGF and tumor infiltration depth.Expressions of HIF-1α is positive correlation with VEGF in immunoreation. Conclusion HIF-1α may play an important role in angiogenesis and tumor progression by regulating the expression of VEGF in colorectal carcinoma.
