Abstract

Jiang Wei was one of the most important military commanders of the Kingdom Shu Han(221AD-263AD).General Jiang was born in an aristocrat family in Xiliang and had a descendant of the Qiang bloodline.This paper argues that Jiang Wei's particular conception of national identity influenced his decision in relation to the Northern Expeditions,which in turn shaped military policies and strategies of the declining Kingdom Shu Han.This transformation in military policy functioned to stabilize the Kingdom.
