The Change of the Hard and Soft Tissue after Orthodontics Treatment of Adult Class II Division 1 Malocclusion with Single Maxillary Extraction

Abstract

Objective:To investigate hard and soft tissue changes and to evaluate the orthodontic effect with upper two first premolars extracted for adult class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion.Methods:25 patients(11 males and 14 females),aged 16~28 years,mean age 18.08 years,were treated by straight wire appliance with upper two first premolars extracted.The hard and soft tissue changes before and after treatment were investigated with cephalometric analysis and data were analyzed by statistical methods.Results:The patients'profile was much improved and good occlusal intercuspation was also achieved,anterior overjet and overbite were normal,the upper incisor had a significant retraction and lower incisor position had no change or light labial inclination.The upper and lower lip retruded significantly and nasolabial angle increased.Conclusion:Obvious improvement of facial form can be achieved by orthodontic camouflage therapy in adult patient with class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion.
