Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and its clinical significance of PDCD5 in degenerative human lumbar intervertebral discs, and to research the relationship between PDCD5 and the human lumbar intervertebral discs degeneration. Methods PDCD5 were measured by immunohistochemistry staining and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in 26 protruded lumbar intervertebral discs( degeneration group) and 10 non - degenerate lumbar discs( control group) . Results The expression of PDCD5 innucleus pulposus tissues and annulus fibrosus in degeneration group was 73. 1% and 80. 8% ,and they were significantly higher thanthose in control group( 30% ,40. 0% ) ( P 0. 05) . The expression of PDCD5mRNA in nucleus pulposus and annulus fibrosus was 0.560 9 ± 0. 049 5 and 0. 574 0 ± 0. 044 7 in degeneration group, and they were higher than those in control group( P 0. 05) . Conclu-sion The expression of PDCD5mRNA and the positive rate of PDCD5 expression in degeneration group is significantly higher than thatin control group. The finding suggests that PDCD5 is involved in pathomechanism of lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration.
